Why Regular Updates to Your Website is Good For Your Target Customers

As more and more websites pop up around the web, it’s easy to get lost in the noise. By creating regularly updated content, Google will reward you with better rankings in the SERPS. They consider a regularly updated website to be a well-maintained one and trust the site more to deliver the right content for the audience with the query.

Why Regular Updates to Your Website is Good For Your Target CustomersKeeping it Fresh

While regular updates are a good thing, you don’t necessarily want to be endlessly updating your home page – that would be weird.

The best way to keep your site fresh is to use promotional advertizing, marketing articles and other useful and informative content on new pages of the site. Typically this is done on the company blog.

Google sees each new page created as ‘fresh content’.

More Reasons to Update Regularly

In addition to better SEO rankings, fresh content also gives people a reason to keep coming back to your site. If they like the things you post and see that the updates are regular, they will come back to see when your next post will be.

Creating fresh blog content also gives you a great excuse to:

  • Engage with your audience, by posting polls and quizzes
  • Feature company achievements, news, updates and promotions
  • Educate and inform the audience of your services, without being too pushy and going for the hard sell every time

Not updating regularly sends the signal that you no longer pay attention to your business, and leaving outdated content (such as events that have passed) further reinforces that idea.

The Easiest ways to Update

First, make sure your site is built on an easy to update CMS, making it easy for you to update. WordPress.org is a great example.

Then the next step is to keep and maintain a blog. A blog is a great place to post any manner of content you like, such as:

  • Reviews
  • Interviews
  • Tips and advice
  • How to Articles
  • Product and Service Features
  • News and Updates

Really, you can post anything that you think your audience will be interested in, and take the time while you are there to promote your own products and services.

Google will reward you, your customers will be happy and will come back regularly and your site grows and grows. It’s win win win!
