Magneto Maintenance Best Practices Every Site Should Follow

No matter what platform you use for your website, keeping it regularly maintained is very important. However, if you have a Magento website, this becomes even more important, since most Magento websites are used for eCommerce websites.

You need to make sure that your website is working properly for your customers, but also safe for them to make purchases on. Here are a few things you can do to maintain your Magento website.

Always Make Sure the Site is Responding Properly

This check should be done often. Ideally, you want to go through and look at your website from a customer’s point of view at least a few times each month, if not weekly. You want to make sure every part of the website responds to their needs properly. Plus, you want to make sure everything loads quickly so they are not stuck at any point during the purchase process. Speed up the processes of your website if you notice them performing slowly so you do not lose customers. Plus, fix any errors you come across immediately. That way, your customers are getting a great experience and are more likely to return.

Make Sure All Plugins Are Up to Date

Your website likely makes use of several plugins to ensure you and your users get the experience you expect. It is your job to make sure that each of those plugins are up to date constantly. There are always new updates coming out for these plugins. That is so they remain highly compatible with both Magento and with other plugins. You need to go through often and ensure these plugins are up to date. Be careful and read up on each plugin before upgrading to ensure it will remain compatible before you upgrade. That way, you can avoid crashing your website and requiring a restore.

Speaking of Restorations …

Another very important maintenance step is to make sure that you always have an up to date restoration. If something ever happens to your site, you want to be able to restore it with something that was working as fully as possible. Ideally, you want to run a restore on a daily basis. That way, if something fails today, you can roll your website back only one day and lose as little information as possible.
